The Integrated Bridge System (IBS) provides centralized access to Navigation sensors for the safety of the ship and to increase efficiency of her Navigational capabilities. A typical IBS is interfaced with Gyro Compasses (Conventional and/or Fibre Optic Gyros), Magnetic Compass, ECDIS, Echo Sounder, Log, DGPS, GPS, Radar/s, motion sensors, GMDSS equipment, AIS. The main advantage of IBS is seamless integration among various sensors on the common platform. All sensors are interfaced with the processor units commonly known as Data Acquisition Units (DAUs) distributed geographically on the vessel. DAU captures all data and forward to the Multi-Function Consoles (MFCs) or Multi-Function Displays (MFDs).
The system is designed with high reliability, maintainability and redundancy factors. The IBS has BITE facility till sub-component level. Dual redundant Gigabit Network of 100 Mbps is provided along with Network Management Software and On Board Training System. IMO regulations are met for Navigation equipment. Software development is made as per IEEE 12204 and DOD-STD-2167A/498.
Redundancy – Critical inputs i.e. Gyro, GPS, RADAR can be hardwired with each MFCs. So, battle damage of bridge or failure of any MFC will not hamper IBS functionalities. The backbone of IBS network is FO with dual redundant network. Failure of any network won’t hamper overall functionalities of the IBS.
RADAR/ARPA – IBS can be interfaced with any type and multiple RADARs from any MFCs. IMO compliant ARPA facility can be made available at all control stations.
Conning – Separate Conning platform is provided along with RADAR and ECDIS pages, as per class requirements. Conning display comprises ship’s navigation, maneuvering, propulsion and steering data.
ECDIS – IMO compliant ECDIS is interfaced with the IBS with server-client configuration. ECDIS can be interfaced with ARPA, AIS, GPS, Gyro, Magnetic Compass, Echo sounder. Seamless transfer of tracks from one ECDIS screen to another screen is feasible without dropping of target tracks.
IPMS Interface – It is possible to interconnect IBS network with IPMS network through gateway. Steering gear pump monitoring, Rudder Angle Indicator inputs can be made available on the IPMS platform.
Consoles – Consoles are designed ergonomically considering customer’s project specific requirements. Components are modeled in 3D software to ensure proper equipment mounting and maintenance space. Finite element analysis is carried out on the console. IP 56 wing consoles are offered under NIBS compliance in accordance with customer’s requirements.
NIBS compliance – NIBS compliant IBS is also provided which will get interfaced with a couple of more sensors i.e. wind direction and velocity indicator unit, weather sensor, sea temperature sensor, etc.
Internal Communication & Sound Recreation Equipment – MB/SRE system, PA system, Auto Telephone, Talkback system, Sound Power Telephone (SPT) can also be provided under turnkey contract along with SRE package. The aforementioned package is customized after understanding ship’s construction and operation philosophy. The intercoms complying Naval rules and regulations with 3-4 different loops and independent amplifiers can be supplied as per project’s requirements.
